KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION

1. Mission

To create a common platform and unite Graduates of KUET 91 series living around the world to build stronger global communities. This is the association which is being formed within the group of Engineers’ who had graduated from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET, former BIT, Khulna) in the year 1997 or admitted in the year 1991. The association will be called “KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION”.

2. Goals and Objectives

The Goals and objectives of the KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION will be:

• To offer support opportunities for members and their families in difficult situations.
• To develop strong post-retirement support plans and facilities.
• To promote KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION within KUET and beyond.
• To ensure duty of care and fairness to all members.
• To provide logistic/financial support in critical situations (death, severe illness, etc.).
• To organize annual reunions with family.
• Political discussion within the association is strongly discouraged.

This is an equal minded group; any political discussion within the group/association is strongly discouraged

3. Membership

Membership will consist of all the Engineers who have graduated from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) within the 91 batch only. In case any of the members passed away, the spouse will be automatically considered as a member in the name of family member.

All members will be subject to the regulations of the constitution and by joining KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION will be deemed to accept these regulations and codes of practice that the KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION has adopted. Members will be enrolled in one of the following categories:

• Primary Member – Direct graduate of 1991 batch
• Family Member – Spouse of deceased member

4. Membership Fees

Membership fees will be set annually and agreed by the Executive/Management Committee or determined at the Annual General Meeting. Initial membership fees will be as follows:

Waiver/discount available on request to the President for members in financial hardship.

Donations: For the larger interest of the association or any volunteering activity the respective members can donate any amount in favor of KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION.

5. Management of the ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION

The management committee of the KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION will be :

• Chairman
• Vice Chairman (5 Positions)
• Secretary
• Joint Secretary
• Treasurer
• Executive Members (5 members)

Management committee will be elected bi-annually at the Annual General Meeting. The chairman, Secretary and Treasurer will be selected from the members who are currently living in Bangladesh only. For vice chairman there will be 5 (five) positions. 2 (two) will be selected from Bangladesh, One from Canada & USA. One from Australia/New Zealand, One from Asia (other than Bangladesh)/Europe Region. The other members of the committee will be selected from any country as agreed in the AGM.

The committee tenure will be initially for two year but can be eligible for re-appointment for another term which can be decided in the AGM only. Any person who will attend more than 50% of the association meetings will be eligible for electing chairman/secretary/treasurer.

6. Committee

The KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION will be managed through the Management Committee selected in the AGM only:

• The KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION will be managed through the Management Committee formed in AGM. Only the Chairman/Secretary will have the right to call a meeting of the Management Committee.
• The Management Committee meetings will be convened by the Secretary of the KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION and will be held not less than three meetings per year.
• The quorum required for business to be agreed at Management Committee meetings will be: 50% of the management committee.
• The Management Committee will be responsible for adopting new policy, codes of practice and rules that affect the organisation of the KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION.
• The Management Committee will have powers to appoint subcommittees for different activities or events as necessary and appoint advisers to the Management Committee as necessary to fulfil its business.
• The Management Committee will be responsible for disciplinary hearings of members who infringe the KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION rules/regulations/constitution. The Management Committee will be responsible for taking any action of suspension or discipline following such hearings.

7. Finance & Banking

All KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION funds will be banked in an account held in the name of the KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION in any scheduled bank in Bangladesh. The account will operate by the joint signature of any two of the president/secretary/treasurer.

The President, Secretary and Treasurer will be responsible for the finances of the KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION.

The KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION funds can be spent only within the scope as decided in the AGM by majority members.

The financial year of the ASSOCIATION will end on 31st December of any calendar year.

An audited statement of annual accounts will be presented by the Treasurer at the Annual General Meeting and a copy sent to the KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION's members.

Any cheques drawn against KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION account will be operated with the signatures of any two of the Chairman/Secretary/Treasurer. Email/written approval of the chairman is mandatory for any kind of expenses of the association.

8. Annual General Meetings

Notice of Annual General Meetings (AGM) will be given by the KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION (in different social groups, phone and mail etc.) by the Secretary & that will be given to all members by not less than 21 calendar days’ prior notice. The AGM can be on site or virtually as agreed by majority members and as situation demands.

All members have the right to vote or opinion at the AGM. The quorum for AGMs will be MINIMUM NUMBER [USUALLY 25% OF THE MEMBERSHIP].

The Management Committee has the right to call Special General Meetings (SGMs) outside the AGM. Procedures for SGMs will be the same as for the AGM.

9. Discipline & Appeals

All complaints regarding the behavior or code of conduct of members should be presented and submitted in writing to the Secretary. The Management Committee will meet to hear complaints. The committee has the power to take appropriate disciplinary action including the termination of membership.

The outcome of a disciplinary hearing should be notified in writing to the person who lodged the complaint and the member against whom the complaint was made within NUMBER days of the hearing. There will be the right of appeal to the Management Committee following disciplinary action being announced. The committee should consider the appeal within NUMBER days of the Secretary receiving the appeal.

10. Dissolution

A resolution to dissolve the KUET 91 ENGINEERS’ ASSOCIATION can only be passed at an AGM through a majority vote (minimum 80%) of the membership. In the event of dissolution, any assets of the KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION that remain or will become the property of NAME OF THE KUET 91 ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION. The value of these assets will be equally distributed between all direct/family members with.

11. Amendments to the constitution

The constitution needs to be approved by calling the first AGM (virtual/onsite) with majority members. After the initial approval the future changes can be done through agreement by majority vote at an AGM or SGM.
